Matt Lillicrap – Pastor
Matt grew up in Kent where he was taught about the hope of Christ from a young age, although he didn’t recognise his own need for that hope until he was 15. After school he travelled the length of England to study medicine in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and then worked as a doctor in North East England for 7 years, as well as working part-time for the Christian Medical Fellowship along the way. In 2013 he moved back down the country to study theology at Oak Hill College in North London. He has been in Cambridge since 2017, first as Associate Pastor at Eden Baptist Church and now as Pastor at HCC. Matt is married to Anika and they have 6 children. He can often be found running, watching or playing any sport going (but cricket in particular!), or reading a good book, especially if paired with a fine single malt.
Martin Brooke – Elder
Martin and his wife, Josette, began following Jesus in their mid-40s after their daughter became a Christian while at sixth form college. Sensing a call to ministry and with a passion to share the good news about Jesus with everyone, Martin attended the PTCornhill and Cornhill Plus Bible training courses before joining the staff of St Andrew the Great church in Cambridge as parish outreach worker. In 2015, Martin and Josette moved to Hope Community Church. Martin is a lifelong Cambridge United fan, loves walking his two dogs as well as playing tennis and golf.
Dave Walker – Elder
Dave grew up in a Christian home and his faith was cemented during his time at University. He works as a freelance music producer, predominantly composing for film and TV. He has a passion for seeing how faith and the Bible connects with culture and the creative industries. Dave also enjoys any kind of American BBQ food, playing sport and endures supporting Arsenal.
Liz Taylor – Pastoral Worker
Liz is a pastoral worker and co-leads a homegroup at Hope. She loves to see God at work in people’s lives and to encourage them to persevere. Liz also enjoys walking in hills, cats and chocolate.
Emily Walker – Children’s Coordinator
Moving between North Wales, Tanzania and Hertfordshire Emily grew up in a Christian home. She became a Christian at 15 but it was during her time studying English Literature and training to be a teacher where her faith in Jesus grew. She is married to Dave and they have two children, Fin and Hattie. Emily loves eating out, charity shops and decluttering!
Rachel Booth – Treasurer
Rachel became a follower of Jesus when she was a postgraduate student in 2010. Her faith grew when she served as a Friends International Reach Volunteer. She has a passion of sharing the good news with international students who don’t know Jesus. She is married to Pete and is mother to Joseph and Hannah.
